  • Experimental Setup

    image

Playing around with this setup. Surely taking my computing experience to a new level, plus dragging down productivity! How can one work with Keynote on one screen and social media on the other.

And, for the you-know-what, the Roma poster is the one I bought 12 years ago!

  • The Uncomfortable Google

So, there i read (again) about how Google still trying to improve their search engine. I am impressed with their Google Instant, and while i havent finished enjoying their excellent search capability, Google is now saying they are going to improve their search engine. 🙂

I am amazed with their unrest, how they always think they are far from perfect and keep improving. Why can’t we? Most companies just think they know everything and think they are the best in their industry, they stop learning and stop improving. They will eventually stop earning. We should act like Google: being uncomfortable, being haunted. That’s when we will get better.

  • World Energy

“We’re not only part of the solution but also part of the problem,” he confesses. What he means is that computers are egregious energy hogs. Data centers alone, Sun calculates, account for 2-3 percent of total world energy use, with all IT making up more like 4-5 percent. At big companies, 20 percent of total energy costs can typically be accounted for by information technology.”

Wow! Can you imagine that? Our laptops contribute to that 4-5 percent of world energy use! Hmmm… we can help the world by stop using laptop! 😀 Dont play too much games, dont listen to mp3s from laptop, dont read too many online papers. Hehe.

  • Nikon

Quite fun trying my pal’s camera (Nikon). Like the clicking sound of it.
Zooming, focusing, adjusting, stay still, focused, click!

Look at how i performed above-mentioned task!
    Not bad huh? Haha.
Maybe, can later become a photo-journalist, hmmm… but must start with photo-blogging instead (which i dont really have the passion to start right now).

Anyway, just feel really refreshed, after pulang-kampung for couple of days. Pekanbaru. A fast growing town. Really fast.
About 8 years ago, when my friends ask me to ‘jalan-jalan’, it really meant we’re on ‘jalan’, roamed around the streets. But now, when they say ‘jalan-jalan’, it could means malls (and we have to ask: ‘jalan-jalan’ which mall?). Nah..that fast!

The only thing I regretted in my home-town is a new statue around Simpang Komersial Arengka. Imagine you eat something very very very bad, and you regret you have put that damn thing in your mouth, and you later call it “mouth-killer”. And the statue i mentioned above is an “eye-killer”. I regret i’ve ever seen such an ugly thing with my eyes. :))

Overall, pay a visit to Pekanbaru, and feel the heartbeat of growing Sumatra…. And maybe, you can experience one of my shoot with my pal’s Nikon!

  • Mouse

I was planning to buy a new mouse for my laptop this morning. And of course, like any regular office-guy, the first thing you would do is to browse for more information online. How much, what the type, brands, etc.
    I roamed a lot in bhineka.com, and found above message, haha. Funny. That’s a price-tag for a pda-phone.

I decided to buy a regular optical mouse. Apparently, wireless one will cost me 400% of the wired mouse. So, hmm.. must save money.

My last mouse has been broken since weeks ago. Some troubles with the wheel and clicks.

Quality has a great correlation with Price. In ideal world, they shall have no positive correlation.
But, hmmm… until now, still cant find a great-great product with a low-low price. Remember the phone i got last year, it’s already broken. Hhhh…

From the left graphic can you imagine what do you get from cheap or low-cost medical service?
