  • Bye Bye Aeroplanino

Vincenzo ‘Aeroplanino’ Montella finally decided to retire from AS Roma and professional football, 🙁 He is one of my favorite Roma players. The way he scores and celebrates! Fantastico!

94 goals in 215 performance is a superb statistic! He helped Roma won the title back in 2001! Bravo Aeroplanino!

  • Roma 08/09

So upsetting, Mancini finally left for Inter. He’s a great right-winger with wonderful record in season 2007/2008. Too bad we have to let him go to Inter. Other key player left Roma is Ludo Giuly (back to his country, France, for Paris St Germain).

    *am a giallorosso!

Good news is Riise has joined Roma for the coming season, fantastico! Great left winger during his time at Liverpool, hope he adapt well with Italian football.

Roma is in good shape! Mexes and Juan are strong in defense, DDR and Aguilani are actually italian hopes in the midfield, while il capitano will again help Roma raise the silverware: Serie A Champion! Vunicic is in a very good shape, but I believe Roma will bring in another goleador. They’re actually looking to sign Baptista!

    Anyway, FORZA ROMA!!!

  • Roma

“This was the saddest night of my career, I never suffered seven goals in the Champions League,” Totti said, almost in tears.

Damn! I did not believe this. My team was thrashed with such a sad score 1-7 from Manchester United. We successfully defeated them 2-1 on the first leg, but this trip to Old Trafford was such a humiliation. 🙁

I follow them since 1998. Almost 10 years. Francesco il Capitano Totti is my all time fav player. A captain, a leader, a Roman, and for me, he is the King of Roma.

We don’t have the strongest squad this year, Roma still facing several financial problems, but with existing players, like Totti, Perotta, De Rossi, Mancini, Taddei, Chivu, Mexes, and veteran Panucci, Roma turns into a strong candidate for second position! I admire that! And mostly because of Totti’s 18 Goals so far, and Allenatore Luciano Spalleti.

Season’s almost over, Roma will stay at 2nd or 3rd, next season will be BIG. I hope Roma wins next season!

    Forza Roma!!

  • Gazzaniga

As you may have read the article in official World Cup website, Silvio Gazzaniga is the designer and sculptor of FIFA World Cup trophy. In one of the interview, he mentioned something very nice.

What does it mean for you when you hold the FIFA World Cup in your hands?
For me it means joy, but that feeling is even stronger for the players. They must earn the right on the pitch which means lots of hard work. I’m grateful to FIFA for having chosen my design from amongst all those submitted.

    Hhhh… imagine this :

    • he designed the trophy almost 35 years ago,
    • he is 85 years old this year.

Can you imagine how he wants that trophy to go to Milano (his hometown)? I mean Italy.

All the 22 players in Italy squad must do very very well to make it happens. Last match against Australia, of course is not one you want to remember. But beating Ukraine and Argentina (maybe! hehe) will let that thing happens. Because, in Final, when Italy fights Brazil (again, maybe! hehe), they’ll win with one or two goals from Francesco Totti!!

    Forza Italia! Forza Roma!

  • Italia Prediction

Wihiii! So glad that Italy won last night game against Czech 2-0. In spite of Totti poor performance, they’re doing good, especially the defense quartet (Grosso, Cannavaro, Materazzi, and Zambrotta) and Buffon (world class, dude! yeah.. world class!). Tonight schedule features one intense and thrilling match (i assured you), between Korea and Switzerland!

Wish Korea can really show what they’re made of tonight (i believe they will go to Last-16) And while predicting who will fight who in Last 16, i read rule number 7 on how to decide which team to go through next round, if the point and goal difference is equal between 2 teams :

    g) drawing of lots by the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup™.

Can you believe that? The fate of the team will be decided by drawing! 😮 Luckily, it wont happened in this 2006 World Cup. I still believe Italia will beat Australia in Last 16, and then beat Korea in Final 8. In semis, they’ll beat Germany the host, and it will be the replay of 1994 World Cup Final, Italia vs Brazil. (my first world cup). And na na… dont say Fat Ronaldo or Ronaldinho will threaten Fabio and Allesandro, in fact Gattuso and Grosso will threaten Brazil wing (c’mon Carlos way too old for Final).

Italia, as usual, start slow and unconvincing. But, they’ll keep winning, even only with single goal. Check their history in 1994, 1998, 2002. The only thing that will keep Italia from winning is PENALTY SHOOT OUT. They lost in 1994 to Brazil after the shoot out (poor Roberto Baggio, from hero to zero).

They lost again in shoot out, after Luigi Di Biagio missed the shot in front of Fabien Barthez.

In 2002, they almost got to the shoot out, before ‘italian-based’ Ahn Jung Hwan scored a dramatic goal in extra time. But, if they go to the shoot out, they will still lose. Korean nerve in front of thousands of their fans will be as thick as the money generated from advertising during the Korea Japan 2002 World Cup. :))

This year? Well, better hope Totti, Pirlo, Gattuso, and Perotta prepared for this! <- those are good penalty takers.
