  • Clarke Quay

    Really fun last night. I went out with a friend and his girl-friend. My friend is an Indonesian, who has lived in Singapore for 8 years, while his girl friend is a Nepalese, who has spent 4 years there.

    So, I met them in Modesto’s, a nice italian restaurant. I had a bottle of Stella Artois (love this beer with no specific reason, just nice). And they ordered Tiramisu, which is very very very good. 9/10 in my tongue.

    At 10, we took a bus to Clarke Quay, for a slice of fun fun fun. Waited few minutes in Marrakesh before offered a seat. He recommended Mojito. I dont understand cocktail, luckily these two were graduated from F&B related major (hotel and tourism), so they explained what is mojito, how to make it, etc. Fun! Oh ya, it’s a mix of rum, mint, lime, and sugar. I must say, it’s very very nice! 9/10 again.

    The girl ordered Long Island (i dont like it). My friend ordered Shisha also, peach-flavored. It’s the first time i try shisha. Nice! But, i must say it didn’t make me a shisha fans.

    But, now i love Mojito! 🙂
    Got home at 2, with a crazy taxi charge and surcharge.

  • Lightroomed

    I browsed some old pictures in my hard-drive and i tried to edit the picture using Adobe Lightroom (my friend – a photographer, uses this software). Damn, so easy and the results are very very very okay. I mean, looks like a pro. Yihaa! I can not lie to you, i am amazed (with the software, the pictures, and erhm the editor – me!).

    This one was taken in Alam Kul-Kul, Bali, during my trip 6 months ago. The cafe is nice. I had a complimentary beer and peanuts.


    This one was taken during our trip to Rizal Park (last December). She did some pose, didnt she? hehe. Anyway, Rizal is yeah we can say Pinoy’s Sukarno. One of the most respected persons in Philippines.


    This one was taken in a restaurant, which claimed to be a cafe of Forrest Gump. Don’t exactly know the fact. Food was nice and expensive.


    The last one is a starbucks’ ad-poster. No, i am kidding. It was taken by Ike in a starbucks near Immigration (or sort of).


    See? Looks very nice, right? Doh, my brother rated all of them with 7.0 out of 10.0. Underrated, i guess 😀

     

  • Last Lecture

    Last Lecture

    I was in ak.sa.ra bookstore (Plaza Indonesia) last week. A staff later came to me and recommend “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. He said “This is a very very nice book. It’s a big hit in US, but you know in Indonesia, it will be a hit probably months after US. But, you can check amazon.com.”

    I looked at the book, but yeaah, i have so many work-in-process for books. I bought several good books few months before, and haven’t read all of them, so I said to him that probably i will buy the book next month.

    The Last Lecture is principally Tuesdays With Morrie‘ alike.

    I browse in Amazon this morning, and have a look at that book, and yes it is in Best Selling List. 90% of reviewers rated the book with 5-star. I will buy the book later, i guess. Finishing “Winning” of Jack Welch.

    By the way, i like a quote in Amazon (by Randy himself):

    “We cannot change the cards we are dealt,
    just how we play the hand.”

    I decided to move from Blogger to WordPress. Reasons were provided by my web-consultant, so i won’t put it here. Hehe.

    Funny thing is, my first post on this blogger was dated June 15th, 2005! Almost 3 years ago. So, i think i will change the layout and the theme of this suwanditalks.com exactly on June 15th, 2008.

    First thing came up is i would like to do a total “renovation” to suwandiTalks.com, i would like to put more emphasize on my professional side. Yeah yeah, let’s call it personal branding or something.

    But later, after several discussion, probably I will only use tabs, instead of total makeover. I am still deciding whether to use english or bahasa. My earliest post were in bahasa indonesia.
